Data collection website for ADAPTS - AI Diagnostic And Prognostic Tools for Sonography in COVID-19 and other lung conditions


We propose to widen the applicability of lung ultrasound (LUS) in COVID-19 by automating interpretations using artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. With this aim, we are going to develop the AI Diagnostic And Prognostic Tools for Sonography (ADAPTS) that will:
  • Provide consistent and highly accurate diagnosis and prognosis of COVID-19 pneumonia
  • Score lung involvement severity
  • Ensure method robustness to ultrasound machine and operator
We will train a deep artificial neural network using COVID-19 LUS data, acquired and annotated by experts. We will validate the software accuracy on an independent set of LUS data and build a web-platform to host the online report tool and an open database of LUS scans.In the pandemic stage this will indicate the presence of COVID-19, while at the endemic stage will provide both hospitals and communities with a reliable indicator of COVID-19 within the background of non-COVID-19 pneumonias. For this reason, we have made public available this website, with the aim of collect as many as possible COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 LUS data from external contributors in order to deploy a robust solution.
